The Lakes Region Snow Mobile Club held its annual Off Road Recreational Vehicle Safety Education Program on December 28. The club was assisted by the NH National Guard at 300 South Main Street by providing a classroom for our event. This is an excellent location for this class and adds to the days event. We also get help from the Franklin Fire Department and the NH Fish and game that administrate and certify the class. If you are unaware anyone age 13 years of age and above need a OHRV Safety card or a drivers license to operate a snow mobile on the trails and cross a road. The class is taught by Kevin LaChapelle and myself, Alan Carignan. We received some much needed help this year from Steve Proulx who did some much needed paperwork so all the students could get there certificates at the end of the day.

  The class went over very well, 34 students attended the class along with two parents to help there children. All students passed the class with 3 students getting a perfect score on the final exam and they are Adam Mendenhall, Susan Oliver, Kerry Rainville. This class did exceptionally good on the test with 28 students getting 90 percent or above on the test. The lowest mark was 86 percent and all these students can be very proud of a job well done. This exam tests a snowmobiler’s knowledge of snowmobile safety and is A required to pass the class. There were 10 adults and 26 young adults from 12 to 16 years of age. Everyone that was in attendance that day added to a great class.

I would also want to thank Kevin for helping keep this class going for the 8 th year, without his assistance it would be impossible to do this day alone.
